Registration and identification badges

Registration of the Participants will held on 7thFebruary 2011 on 09.00 am onwards at the reception counter of the “Vigyan Bhawan”. The participants are requested to carry with them the invitation letter, copy of the on-line registered Bio-data in the prescribed format along with their Passport for identification. On-line registration has to be made well in advance before onward journey. The details of the on-line registration will be available on website. On registration at the reception, the delegates will be issued identification Badges, which should be worn by all participants at all times during the Conference and all official/social functions for identification and security reasons.

Participants who are not able to register on the opening day are requested to do so on subsequent day, to ensure that their names appear on the list of participants.

Working languages of the meeting

The Conference will be conducted in English. No translation/interpretation services will be provided.

Visa requirements

Participants should check with the relevant diplomatic or consular mission of the Government of India for visa requirements and, wherever required, obtain appropriate entry visas. Participants who need to stopover in other countries should also obtain appropriate transit visas. Participants have to bear and all additional travel and related costs as a result of their failure in obtaining appropriate transit/stopover visas in advance.

Reception on arrival:

The delegates will be received at Indira Gandhi International Air Port. A reception counter will be functional at air port to receive the delegates round the clock and the volunteers at the counter will assist the delegates to reach at their destination. At reception counter a banner(Commonwealth Statisticians Conference)will be prominently displayed .

Local Transport:

The organizing Committee will make adequate transport arrangement to pick up the delegates from the Air Port. Further picking up the delegates from their Hotels to Conference Venue and back to hotel will be taken care by organizing Committee.

Besides if the delegates required personal transport on payment basis, they may contact/call Project Manager at 0091-9910067703 for hiring taxi.

Facility Counter:

Internet service, Fax, Scanner etc facilities are available at the Seminar site free of charges.

Foreign exchange:

Exchange facilities are available at the International Airport in New Delhi. The current exchange rate is approx. Rs. 45/- to one US dollar. Participants are advised to carry sufficient amount of funds and to convert them to local currencies for incidental expenses at transit point(s) and upon arrival in India.

Return bookings:

Participants will be assisted in making reconfirmation of their return flights. All participants are urged to keep their original itinerary arranged by the sponsoring agencies.

Electrical Systems in India:

The available voltages for all electric appliances used are 220 volts, 50 cycles. Electric plugs available are the 2 Pin (5 amp) and 3 Pin (15 amp)-round hole.


The weather in New Delhi in early February will be moderate. The average temperature ranges from 8 to 24 degrees Centigrade.

The organizing Committee or the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation will not assume responsibility for any other expenditure, such as:

  • Salary and related allowances for participants during the period of Conference;
  • Costs incurred by participants in respect of travel insurance, accident insurance, medical or dental bills or hospitalization fees in connection with their attending the Conference;
  • Compensation in the event of death or disability of participants in connection with their attending the Conference ;
  • Any loss or damage to personal property of participants while attending the Conference or losses or damages claimed by third parties as a result of negligence on the part of the participants; and
  • Any other expenses of a personal nature, not directly related to the purpose of the Conference.
